How the desk works
A short check
We sit with you and note which documents each person in your household has, and which schemes you may qualify for.
One case for each paper or scheme
We help fill each form, book the appointment and, when it's needed, go with you to the Seva Kendra or ward office.
We follow up until it arrives
We keep track of every case and remind you before appointments, by WhatsApp or SMS, in the language you choose.
What we will never do
- We never charge a fee.
- We never pay any official, and we never ask you to.
- We never touch benefit money. It always goes into your own bank account.
- We never promise you'll be approved. The office decides. We make sure your application is complete and on time.

How we look after your papers
- We ask your permission for every document we keep.
- We keep only the last four digits of an Aadhaar number, never a full copy.
- Files are stored encrypted and seen only by the staff working on your case.
- Each file has a date when it's deleted. You can ask us to delete it sooner.
- Children's documents never appear on any sponsor page.

We'll publish our first figures once the desk has its first results.
When and where the desk runs
We open the desk whenever we have the funds for it, and post the day, time and place here.
Bring whatever papers you already have. It's fine if you don't have many. That's what we're here for.
Why this matters to Saathis
A family's papers open doors: scholarships, health cover, board exam registration. Getting them costs very little: staff time, travel to offices and printing. Your gift to the general fund keeps the desk running.
Questions
Does it cost anything?
No. The desk is free, and we never pay or ask for "speed money".
Are you an agent of the government office?
No. We help you apply in your own name. The office makes every decision.
How long does it take?
It depends on the office and the document. We'll tell you what to expect for each case and keep you updated.
