3. How much you can deduct
- Donations to Saath Foundation qualify for a 50% deduction, subject to the qualifying limit of 10% of your adjusted gross total income.
- The deduction is available only if you file under the old tax regime.
- Example: you give ₹10,000 and your adjusted gross total income is well above ₹1,00,000. You may deduct ₹5,000. Your actual tax saving depends on your tax slab.
4. What you need to claim
1. Your PAN, your name and your address, entered at checkout. Saath Foundation reports these on Form 113. If Saath Foundation does not report your PAN, the Income Tax Department cannot match your claim. If you have no PAN, write to us before you give. 2. Our receipt, sent instantly by email and kept in your account. 3. Form 114, the official certificate, which we send by 31 May after the end of the financial year, once we have filed Form 113. Use the amounts on Form 114 in your return.
Check your PAN carefully before paying. A PAN has 10 characters, like ABCDE1234F. The checkout shows your name and PAN for confirmation before you pay.
5. What our receipt shows
Saath Foundation's legal name, address and PAN; our approval URN and its validity; a unique receipt number (for example SAATH/2026-27/000123); the date; your name, address and PAN; the amount in figures and words; the payment method and gateway reference; the donation type; a statement of eligibility under section 133 (formerly 80G); a note that Form 114 will follow by 31 May; and a system-generated authorisation.
6. What does not qualify
| Not eligible | Why |
|---|---|
| Cash donations above ₹2,000 | The law allows a deduction only for non-cash payments above ₹2,000. Online payments are always fine |
| Books, clothes and other in-kind gifts | Only money qualifies. You can add an optional cash gift to a book or clothes pledge |
| Donations through the FCRA route (from foreign sources), usually | Most donors abroad have no Indian taxable income, so we issue an FCRA acknowledgement, not a section 133 receipt. If you file an Indian income-tax return, tell us your PAN before you give and we will check whether we can report your gift on Form 113 |
| Refunded donations | A refunded donation's receipt is cancelled and removed from Form 113 |
| Donations under the new tax regime | The new regime does not allow this deduction |
7. Indian citizens living abroad (NRIs)
If you are an Indian citizen and give from your personal savings through normal banking channels, your gift is a domestic donation. If you have income taxable in India and file under the old regime, you may be able to claim the deduction. Please check with your adviser.
8. Company and CSR donations
Companies should contact us before giving. CSR contributions follow the Companies Act, 2013 and a separate agreement. Money a company spends as CSR under section 135 of the Companies Act cannot also be claimed as a deduction under section 133. For CSR grants we issue an acknowledgement and utilisation certificates as the CSR agreement sets out, not a section 133 receipt. Saath Foundation is registered for CSR (CSR-1 CSR00538908).
9. Corrections
If a detail on your receipt is wrong, write to help@thesaathfoundation.com before 30 April after the financial year, so we can correct Form 113 before the deadline. After filing, we can still file a correction statement.
