Donate clothes, from anywhere in India
Clothes you'd be glad to hand to a friend
Pledge clean, wearable clothes online, drop them off or courier them, and follow them from Pledged to Distributed.
Our one rule: would you give it to a friend?
The children and families who receive these clothes should feel good wearing them.
So we only share items that are clean, whole and the right size, and wherever we can, people choose what they take.
How donating clothes works
-
Pledge online
Tell us roughly what you have. You'll get a pledge ID straight away.
-
Wash, sort and pack
Wash everything, pair the shoes, and pack by type (children's, adults', school uniforms).
-
Drop off or courier
Write your pledge ID on the bag or box.
-
Follow your clothes
Pledged → Received → Sorted → Distributed. We update you at each stage.
The four stages
Your pledge moves along this trail, and you hear from us at every step.

Distributed
Your clothes have gone to a partner home on 14 November.
Updates are by batch and place, never photos of individual children or families.
Clothes we can use
We can use
- Children's and young people's clothes, from babies up to age 23
- Party wear and festival clothes, in good condition
- School uniforms (schools in the cities we serve)
- Sweaters, jackets and raincoats
- Women's and men's everyday clothes, washed and ironed or folded
- Shoes and sandals in good condition, tied or banded in pairs
- New socks, and new undergarments with tags
- Bedsheets and blankets, washed
Clothes we can't use
- Anything unwashed, damp or smelling of mould
- Torn, stained or faded clothes, or clothes with broken zips
- Used undergarments or used socks
- Single shoes, or shoes with worn-through soles
- Clothes with offensive slogans or prints
Sorting takes our team's time, and items we can't use cost us twice: once to sort, once to dispose of.
If something reaches us that we can't pass on, we give what others can use to a partner organisation and send the rest for textile recycling. We'll tell you in your pledge updates.
Getting your clothes to us
Drop off, free
Bring your bag or box to a drop-off point in your city. It costs nothing.
Courier, at your cost
From anywhere in India, you can courier your clothes to us. Courier charges are paid by you, and we can't accept cash-on-delivery parcels.
Home pickup
We can collect from your place. Choose pickup in the form, and we'll call you to fix a time.
Pack in a clean bag or box, one type per bag, with your pledge ID on the outside.
About tax deductions
Donated clothes don't qualify for an 80G deduction. Only money gifts do. If you'd like a receipt, you can add a money gift to your pledge. It's optional.
Add a money gift (optional)
A small amount helps us wash, sort and transport clothes. Gifts from Indian citizens are eligible for deduction under 80G (now Section 133 of the Income-tax Act, 2025), old tax regime only.
Questions about donating clothes
Do I get an 80G receipt for clothes?
No. Only money gifts qualify. You can add an optional money gift to your pledge, and that gets a receipt.
Who receives the clothes?
Children and families we support across India, through partner shelter homes and our programs. Your pledge update says whether your clothes went to a partner home or a Saath Foundation program, and when. It never names a place or a person.
Will I get a photo of who received my clothes?
No. We don't photograph children or families receiving donations. You'll get the date and the place instead.
My clothes are old but clean. Can I send them?
Yes, if they're whole, clean and you'd hand them to a friend. If in doubt, leave it out.
Purane kapde daan kahan karein?
Pledge online, drop your clothes at a point in your city or courier them from anywhere in India, and track them with your pledge ID.
