How we choose the homes we support
The Saath Foundation doesn't run a children's home. We support registered shelter homes run by government or by other organisations, and we're careful about which ones.
Why you won't find a list of homes here
Publishing where a home is would tell anyone where to find the children who live there. So we never show a home's name, address or photo in public. On child profiles we show the district only.
Visits never happen at a partner home. Meet Your Saathi visits take place only at a venue Saath Foundation hires for that event.
What a home must have before we work with it
Before we support any child in a home, our Program Manager checks and keeps on file:
- Registration as a Child Care Institution under section 41 of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, with its certificate and validity date.
- The registration checked with the authority that issued it, not only a copy of the certificate.
- The home's written permission before any child's profile, photo or visit is arranged.
- A child protection policy and a named person responsible for safeguarding at the home.
- A signed partnership agreement covering what Saath Foundation funds, how we pay vendors, and how we report.
- A visit by our staff before we list any child.
What Saath Foundation pays for
We fund a child's listed needs: school fees, books, uniforms, and health & care. Saath Foundation pays the school or vendor. We don't hand cash to the home for a child's listed needs.
Children living with their families
Some of the children we support live at home with a parent or guardian. For them, a guardian gives consent for the child's profile, and staff check that the guardian is who they say they are.
If something doesn't feel right
If you're worried about a child or about how a home is run, please tell us. We take every concern seriously, and we'll stop working with a home if children aren't safe.
Run a registered home and want to partner?
Questions people ask
Does Saath Foundation run a children's home?
No. We support registered shelter homes run by government or by other organisations. We don't run a home ourselves.
Can I visit the home where a child lives?
No. To keep children safe, visits happen only at a venue Saath Foundation hires for that event, with staff and the child's guardian present.
Can you tell me which home a child lives in?
No. We don't share it with anyone outside Saath Foundation and the home.
